MOONS
Don't Give Up.
My name is Alyson Pytte. I'm an attorney, former journalist, would-be poet, wilderness lover, and political progressive who lives in Anchorage, Alaska.
On election night, once it became clear the election would be decided by anger and fear - an eventuality I hadn’t allowed myself to contemplate - I stayed up all night reading The Book of Joy. I was inspired by the Dalai Lama’s exhortation to stand up for one’s beliefs without being attached to the outcome. I knew this was what I needed: to channel my own shock and despair over the dark political forces that had shown themselves in our country into positive action, and to let go of the negative belief that whatever I did would not be enough. I hope you will join me in this way to keep the candle lit for progressive values in Alaska.
“No dark fate determines the future. We do. Each day and each moment, we are able to create and re-create our lives and the very quality of human life on our planet. This is the power we wield.”
-The Dalai Lama and Archbishop Desmond Tutu
